The EM 1.2k 18 came out of more than a year of testing and prototyping. It is a smaller-motor subwoofer that punches well above its size: a highly efficient coil-cooling system lets the 3″ American-made coil match or beat the thermal performance of many competing 3″ coil drivers, so it is at home in daily, SQL or SPL systems that get driven hard. If you want to bang hard on the street without emptying your wallet, this is the one.

Every EM Audio subwoofer is hand built to order in North Carolina. Custom orders take a minimum of 15 business days to build and are final sale. Custom powder-coat frame and dustcap colors, a stiffer spider pack, direct 8 ga. OFC leads and custom dustcap logo text are available as options above. Real carbon fiber dust caps are in Dust Caps. Recone kits are available for every model we make, so a blown sub is a rebuild, not a replacement.
