Description
JL Audio 8W7 / 8W7AE Subwoofer Voice Coil
The JL Audio 8W7 / 8W7AEĀ has earned a reputation as one of the finest 8″ subwoofers ever made. When the voice coil fails, rebuilding is almost always the smarter move. Our single 3 Ohm voice coil is a direct replacement that gets your subwoofer back to full performance for a fraction of the cost of buying new.
What Else Do You Need?
Along with the voice coil, you will typically need the correct spider, dust cap, surround and cone collar to complete the repair. Since replacement cones for the 8W7 are not available, you will need to reuse your existing cone.
Recommended Adhesives
Using the right adhesives is the difference between a repair that lasts and one that fails prematurely.
- EC4000 Black Rubber-Toughened CA Glueā for bonding the spider to the voice coil, collar and frame
- FLXEP860 Semi-Flexible Black Epoxy ā an alternative to CA glue for the same bonds
- BEP870 Black Epoxy ā an alternative to CA glue for the same bonds
- L3890 Thick Black Rubber Adhesive ā for attaching the surround and dust cap
All four adhesives are available on our website. Using the wrong glue can result in a failed repair, so we strongly recommend using only these products.
Installation Tips
Dry-fit parts first and confirm alignment before final bonding. Before final assembly, meter the voice coil to confirm the impedance is correct. Then use the proper adhesives for spider-to-voice-coil and cone bonding, and allow full cure time before applying power.
